ABFM-PDX

Since no one else has, I thought I would report on the ABFM-PDX held Labor Day Weekend. There were 20, count 'em TWENTY Bug-Eyes, 5 Box Sprites and 5 Midgets amongst the hundreds of cars on the field. Everyone who had a Spridget thought that this one would win thanx to all the custom work on it, done with top quality. I guess what we see, others miss. Check out his air intake vent. He still has the fiberglass molds and I may be able to talk him into making more..His front valence was a work of art as well.
A local Portland guy took first in Box Sprites (yes the field is large enough to have separate categories for BE and Box Sprites ) This car was second and Jean S. (68 Sprite here on the BCF) took third with her magnificent maroon car. The swop meet had plenty of Spridget parts to be found. Bill M. was there trying to reduce inventory as was Mike B. I was hoping to find a replacement grill as the last time I had pulled it I saw the many of the rectangles were broken. Not only did I score one, but it was already black with all the mounting arms long gone. A direct replacement as those who know my car know the grill is held in with ty-wraps at most and usually just by friction.

That snorkle is the bee's knees. I just realized that with the A15 I won't have to relocate the heater. I'd be intersted in a copy.

So where does the snorkle tie in up front. Is he using an termination p[oint like a BE uses for the air inlet? This one allows you access to the dizzy as well as oil filter without needing to unhook the tube for the heater. Hmmmm wonder if it will work with a BE Bonnet? So what's he thinking about price wise for a snorkel?

Really nice work.

It goes down and hooks into the stock inlet right behind the grill. He had his inlet flapper down right at the opening. ... He didn't mention price, but I got his card so I we can communicate. I told him he could probable sell a bunch once people saw his work. You can see the two little caps. That's where the bolts go to hold it on. He drilled and tapped the inner fender for mounting.

That's a big show.

I love it when the Bugeyes are in a separate class from the Midgets (as they should be). I've found that if your Midget has to compete with Bugeyes in a crowd-judged show, your Midget has no chance!

The biggest MG club around here, the Washington DC MG Car Club, doesn't group Bugeyes with Midgets any more. After all, they're NOT MGs!
