Spitfire 75 spitfire starting problem

I haven't gotten around to posting pics yet but I bought both a 75 and 80 spitfire, and am selling the 75. I have been starting it( the 75) every day including this morning but I ran it out of gas. I went and put 2 gallons in but now will not start. Plenty of cranking power, just will not start. Has new dist.cap and rotor, points look good and it started fine this morning. It has been cranked for 5 minutes and will not start. WHere should I look?

Given that you ran it out of gas before it wouldn't start, I'd be looking at fuel delivery. Sometimes the fuel pumps will move gas just fine, but not air at cranking speed.

What I usually do after running out of gas is to pour just a little raw fuel directly down the carb throat(s). That should let the engine start and run for just a second or two, which is usually enough to get fuel worked through the lines & pump.

Thanks tr3driver, I got it off the hill it was on to flat ground, found an old can of starting fluid either, and between the 2 got it cranked. I think it just needed more time for the fuel lines to fill up. The trucking company the buyer has contracted to get the car is coming today so murphys law came into effect for me, but it's going. Will post pictures of the 80 spitfire as soon as I get time.

Randell, I periodically run a script to see which users are over their PM limit. Just FYI - you are currently at your PM limit. Until you delete some PMs you won't be able to receive any additional PMs. Just FYI.

Roofman - I had a similar thing happen on my '74 Spit and it turns out I sucked some gunk from the bottom of the tank and it clogged the electric fuel pump that was installed by the PO.

It might be that simple...
