As I finally figured out my brake woes (after rebuild) I fired the TR6 up for the first time in 5 months. The engine was rebuilt last summer/fall & I have about 400 miles on it.
Problem 1. Looks like I have some oil running down the left side of block in one or two places. Coming from head gasket?? Does that sound likelely? (the engine is so fresh that I'm at about 90lbs. when under load before fully warmed up). If so what's going on? Also, when driving I saw the oil light flicker for a few seconds but pressure was good (high) and level ok.

Problem 2. I also noticed this once last fall. Engine runs great and is very responsive. However, when I shut it down for 5-10 min. and restart it wants to stall, sounds like the exhaust has a mute on it (Ansa exhaust), and needs nursing to keep it running until i can get going, put it under load, etc. Then runs well and can come to stop & get ok idle. Today I opened the hood after getting home and front carb was dripping gas pretty badly. I assume stuck float--would that cause other stuff mentioned?

UUGHHH!

Stob,
Don't loose you cool, it's all part of the fun. Oil should not be coming out from between the head gasket. Clean the area & locate the source. If it is from the head let the motor cool & re-torque the head bolts, this should be done on a fresh engine anyway.
A stuck float or flooding carb would cause the symtoms you stated. When all else fails re-check the basics, dwel (point gap), timing , plugs & fuel delivery. If the car is indeed flooding you should smell it & the plugs should show it.
One last posibility is an air leak in the fuel line , but this would usually be consistant not intermittent.
Believe me , it will all be worth it on that first beautiful sunday morning when you go for a ride, you get thumbs up from other motorists & the car purrs & run perfectly.
