Yesterday I finished adding disc brakes to my single axle aluminum trailer. It's surge accuator system that has a coupler that moves in when you brake to push on the m/c. Rewired the trailer from a flat 4-pin to a round 7-pin socket to get backup light voltage to disengage the pressure on the discs so I can backup!

Today I swapped the rear leaf spring bushings from old cracked rubber to new poly. I cleaned and lubed the rear 10" drum brakes, blasted and repainted the drums and the spring shackles. I also topped up the lever shocks; I use a small syringe that dog worm medicine come in, and squirt the fluid in until it runs out of the hole.

Yesterday I also made a small bracket to mount a Hella halogen backup light on the outside of the driver side rear bumper bracket. Since the Toyota 5speed already has a backup switch, I figured I might as well use it. Looks vintage. Haven't tried it at night yet though.

And finally got around to hooking up the brake light modulator/flasher. This thing is REALLY cool and I will post a video of the light in action - you can't miss my brake lights now. While I was in the trunk I cut a new trunk carpet from a roll that I have in the loft. I just can't stop!!!!

So I'm running out of parts, guess I'll have to take a trip.

How's everyone's weekend going?

It's going much better now. I just saw the weather for tomorrow and there are NO showers for the afternoon. By 8:15AM I'll be on my way to the Larz Anderson Museum in Brookline, MA to attend the British Car Day with my Cape Cod BCC buddies.

I'll have lots of pix to post when I get back. This event draws about 250 - 300 cars and there are some rare beauties that show up.

This is ALL British, as apposed to the individual marque shows that run monthly. The annual Day of Triumph is later in July.

And I will be flying the BCF colors along with my CCBCC badges!

Spent most of Saturday dealing with Wendy's
leaky bathroom faucet. I have excluded the old
wall mirror as the source of the leak.

Three hours working on Crypt Car fuel delivery
system and then dinner with friends.

Today going fishing at crack of dawn.

Have fun everyone with driving your old cars.

Hope the car events were good guys - we'll be waiting for pictures!

My kid brother is in town and wanted to work on the cars (yeah!) and we won a couple and lost a couple;

The less than ideal;

The MGB-GT wouldn't start - flat battery - not a big deal.

We confirmed that the TR8 fuel pump is an inert object at this point, so she is about to go on a trailer to the shop that installed the pump 250 miles ago.

The good;

The Rover 3500 started (always makes be insanely happy for some reason) and after driving it my brother declared "that is one funky cool car" despite that he was covered in random bits of the sun baked disintegrating foam interior.

The Spitfire cranked right up and ran like a charm.

The much abused by the DPO outboard motor on the sail boat didn't quit in the middle of the harbor while heading out for a quick sail with my brother / his wife. Wind was iffy, but nothing sank which is always good.

So overall we're on the positive side of the mechanical ledger!
