Trunion part missing

I use a little advice on rebuilding the TR6
front end.

The trunion piece has a small hole in the back with
threads at the very bottom. That part is missing from
the trunion I just removed.

Moss lists it as a 3 piece steering stop NLA.
TRF does not show it at all.

Is this piece important? If so, What can I substitute?
Anyone got a photo hanging around?

thanks,
tin

There should be a capscrew as you have pictured, along with a spacer and lock washer. It works as a stop.

A cap screw, washer, and standoff stop.
Here's a pic.

At least in theory, the 'spacer' should be drilled off-center. It's an adjustment for max steering angle. But I don't know if anyone worries about the adjustment, unless (like me) they have oversize tires and want to keep them from rubbing on the sway bar.

Ray- I think the above photo is the back side and you are pointing to the oiling zerk.

Nope. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonod.gif

This was Dale's picture of his front end. I should have mentioned that.

So if you look again, you will see the white arrow pointing to the cap screw and stop behind the tab on the lower rear part of the vertical link.

Could be he's missing the one on the other side of the car though

Or he thought it was a Pedro 'thingy' and he tossed it. In which case I can visualize him rummaging through the trash looking for it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Thanks guys,

Graham called it correctly. I checked the other wheel
and sure enough the trunion is intact. That photo posted
was taken of the OTHER side when I was doing the wheel
bearing project. So one trunion has and one hasn't.

So it should be easy to pull the existing bolt and spacer
and duplicate them. Yet another oddity of something
performed halfA$$ed for no apparent reason I can think of.

This is exactly why I always work with a "parts board" when
I am taking things apart. It makes it difficult for me to
mess up and lose things.

regards,

d
