Trunion/lower wishbone washer HELP

This is regarding a tr4 with 3deg trunions: Is this the correct washer to be placed on the outermost end of the trunion through-pin (secured by castle nut)?

If it is indeed the correct part, does it need to be reamed to fit the serrated end of the trunion (portion behind the threads on the pin shaft) or does it need to be hammered on (for an interference fit)?

The washer shown below is a new Moss piece and I am using original trunions/pins.

OR...do I have the wrong part (washer) altogether? ..and need to order the correct part.

thank you so much - I've been staring at this unassembled lower wishbone set-up for days now.

Looks like the right piece to me. The splines on the pin are supposed to cut into the bore of the "washer", so that it winds up firmly locked from turning even though it isn't clamped to anything.

The original pins had a bit of a taper on the end of the splines to assist the process, but some of the replacements don't. If the ends of the splines are perfectly square, you might want to use a Dremel or similar to grind just a bit of a taper on them. It's also probably better to use a ordinary full height nut to force them on the first time as the castellated nuts aren't as strong and sometimes strip.

I'm not sure if any vendors have problems with this part currently, but be aware that some of these washers in the past have been trouble to install. Either the hole in the washer was slightly undersized, or the hardness of the washer was an issue, but they have been known to be difficult to tighten against the splines on the trunnion. A friend of mine actually broke a trunnion by trying to force the washer on and the trunnion pin broke.

thanks guys - truly invaluable. I hate to say this, despite taking lots of notes during disassembly; it was close to 5 yrs ago when I took the suspension apart!

two children, quitting a job and starting my own company and everything else (I got distracted by a motorcycle purchase)...has caused this project to run on a bit.

Was just at the Pittsburgh Vintage Races yesterday (at BeaveRun race course) and seeing all the MG's, TR's and even a very competitive early mini cooper really got me exited to get done!

hopefully by this time next year, we'll be moving on the road!
