TR2/3/3A TR3B stanchion to frame scew size

What is the thread size for the screws to hold stanchions to frame and any tap suppliers if non standard .

The top two are 10 X 32 X 1" and the bottom is slightly longe, I believe 1 1/8" . If you use the longer one in the top two holes it could crack your glass. I found stainless steel ones at the hardware store to replace one of the upper ones but don't recall if they had the 1 1/8 as I didn't need those.

As far as I know, they are not 10/32. They should be 2BA, which are very close to 10/32. The major diameter is 0.185" and they have 31.4 tpi. You could probably force a 10/32 in there, but it's not right. A lot of the screws smaller then 1/4" on the TR3 are BA screws. The most common being 2BA and 4BA. There's info at British Fasteners (see link) and they also carry hardware and taps and dies. I bought a couple of 2BA and 4BA taps from them. The screws themselves I got from Moss.

Are you talking to window frame, or tub? My pre-60k TR3a has a plate on each side that screw to the tub with 3) 1/4-28 screws, and then dzus fastners to the plates.

Thanks for all the replies.The replacement screws mic'd a little under a 10-32 so I wasnt sure.
Ordered the 2ba from the link and for $9.21 including post its on its way.

They're talking about the stanchion to windshield frame bolts. 2BA is what I recall as well; plus they have chromed slotted oval heads. I got mine from TRF.

The frame is very soft and thin, though, so I wouldn't go running a tap through there unless it's really necessary. I bet it's really unpleasant to have that joint fail and the windshield smack you in the face while you're driving down the freeway.

Hey Randall.yes the stanchion to glass frame screw.I am becoming more familiar with this frame than I had intented.
Although the frame is thin,both upper stanchion screw holes is are in a small block secured by another adjacent screw through frame,lower hole is in corner bracket, and I need to chase one.

As far as I know, they are not 10/32.

I try to not provide false info, so if I was wrong about 10x32 I'm sorry, but I did go to the car and remove an original screw and replaced with a new 10x32 I had from a unopened package before posting an answer and then put the original back in. It fid dit.

It's very easy to mistake them, as I mentioned, the basic diameter is within a couple thou, and the the tpi is 32 vs. 31.4. If the original threads are a little worn, a 10/32 screw would most likely fit. I've made the mistake myself, and have at least one 10/32 screw in a place where there should be a 2BA.
