TR2/3/3A Stebro Exhaust on TR3A w/ Overdrive?

Looking to purchase a new exhaust system at some point, and was wondering if any on the forum have experience with fitting a Stebro exhaust on a TR3A with Overdrive? Don't want to find out the hard way that it won't fit.

Secondly, and this is a loaded question..but is the Stebro worth the $$$ in your opinion? Looking for something that provides a somewhat deep note, looks good, and will last until the next restoration. Have ANSA/Monza type setup now without the front resonator and I'm not all that impressed with the sound.

IMHO if you buy 2, 28 inch glass packs fit them end to end, you get really good tr3 noises for a very low $$$ At least it has always worked for me,and made wife happy too.

I have the dual version of that on my TR4A and am very happy with it. The sound is great but a bit louder then on my TR3A that has the standard one muffler one resonator on it. I know a fellow who has the Stebro on his TR3A with overdrive and it fits fine (he is a member of this forum but not on much, Frank you there?).

Even a single glasspack works well, if you add a downturned tip. Local muffler shop installed the glasspack for under $90; I added the tip for about $15. Sounded great.

I don't know about it fitting with an OD gearbox. And I also don't know much about the current Stebro systems. But I had one on my TR3A 35 years ago, and I loved it. Back then, the main choices were stock (nice enough sound), Abarth (very nice sound but expen$ive), and Stebro (in between price-wise, and also very nice sound...and durable)!

I believe that the Stebro fits with no problems with an OD car.

By the same token you can make up your own system. Just have them replicate the front system in new 2" pipe and stock a modern straight through muffler and a tip resonator on it.

On the Jamaican, I used a Magnaflow muffler, and a Pacesetter twin tip welded pretty much right to the outlet of the muffler (space constraints) and it sounds as mellow as any Stebro at a fraction the price. In fact Pacesetter obviously copied the tip resonators from Stebro and I was able to use them on my old Lamborghini instead of paying $250 each for the things from Stebro.

My suggestion, if locally available. Have a local exhaust shop build 1 for you. that way you can add or delete mufflers to your liking and guarantee fit too.

I got in contact with my friend that had a Stebro made for his TR3A with O/D. This was his reply.---
"There is a posting on e-bay for Stebro exhaust systems and it may be what prompted the Forum question.

This is the guy in Manotick that built my system (Stebro) and he used my old Stebro as a pattern. He kept my old system and told me he would start selling them at some point. I have OD so I guess the answer is that it will fit. The person on the Forum could ask this guy if he is using my system as a pattern just to be sure. It was in 2002 (I think) that he built mine and the TR3 was white then. I am not logged into the forum these days and have not been for quite some time. Maybe you can put up the answer for me.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, and for the confirmation of the Stebro fitment Adrio. It was indeed the listing on Ebay that got me thinking about going this route. Saw one listed there a few years ago and I liked it, but elected not to pull the trigger then due to the price at the time. While my offer yesterday was countered by the seller on Ebay and it is a decent discount, it is still not a cheap proposition vs. stock stainless from one of the British parts houses or the local muffler shop. Decisions, decisions... Wish there was a way to hear one as I'm pretty sure that would seal the deal one way or another.
