She actually started! [Updated with interior pics]

So, in order to test all kinds of things that I've been messing with over the past 4 months, I finally fired the old girl up and took her for a spin. Details are as follows:

Rat-co throttle linkage: The throttle never felt so responsive even before the triple carbs, I recommend this upgrade to any TR

Spax shocks for the rear: Wow, my cantelever shocks were in great shape, but this is a nice upgrade none-the-less. the shocks give the car a much more confidence in the curvies.

J-type overdrive: One word: SAHWEET! Once I figured out which direction (up or down) turns the darned thing on. I haven't had it on the highway yet, but gives a nice reduction in RPMs in 3rd and 4th.

Leather Seats: Very supple (I hate that word), it feels like I sit 2 inches higher because the foams are new. The seats are still a tad too small for my taste, but infinitely more comfortable. I should have the rest of the carpet and the passenger seat in by Sunday so I can take some pics.

Two-winged wire wheel nuts: What can I say? The British sports car version of BLING!

I should have pics of everything soon, once I have time to install the rest the interior and clean everything up.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ok, I'm not quite done yet with the interior, but I managed to snap a few photos. I don't have it cleaned up yet, but you'll get the idea.

First the throttle linkage, I think TR6Bill has a better install, but I couldn't make it work like he did:

and a close up of the linkage on the carb:

The interior, unfinished with no seats:

Couple pics of the seats:

More to follow.

Shannon,
I like those seats and that carpet. I am jealous. I ride around in hot black.

Re: After nearly 4 months, she actually started!

R6MGS,

The dash is from Prestige Autotrim. Randy Keller is the owner/op. The venere is African Rosewood. I just wish the steering wheel matched the dash a little better... something I didn't think about until AFTER I installed the dash.

As far as the carpet, It's really hard for me to be patient about anything, but I'm forcing myself this time.. I spent waaay to much $$ on this kit to screw it up.

Even if somthing breaks, I'm done for this year and probably most of next.

I must say, this is my first interior attempt, not that hard, but it's taken me a good two weeks to get everything to my satisfaction (working about 2-3 hours a night).

British Leyland could have only dreamed about making the interior as nice as you have!

Outstanding! (And don't worry about the steering wheel compared to the dash. It looks fine.)

Shannon,
Very good work, almost too nice to drive now! You went with the Skinner interior kit didn't you? Any comments on quality, fit, finish etc? Also, what color is that exactly?

Re: After nearly 4 months, she actually started!

Thanks everyone!

71tr,

Where in the heck have you been? Yes, I used the Skinner kit. The color is the light tan. Not the correct color for a 72, but what the heck? I've changed everything else about the car, why not that?

I was very impressed with the quality of everything. I liked the fact that all the pieces were slightly over sized so it was much easier to fit. The kit was basically turnkey, it included everything that I needed except for the adhesive.

How do you get all of those pictures posted? I don't have any on a remote server, so does one get them from his hard drive's folder to the post (in-line) without being an attachement?

And the car looks just beautiful!! I just got my new dark tan carpets from Magic Carpet (TRF) and I hope that they look as good as yours.

Re: After nearly 4 months, she actually started!

Brosky,

You have to have the pics hosted on a web page. For instance, I've got a website: www.lastdeadlast.com/coppermine that hosts all of my pics. When I post a message here, I just add the image code, which is [image]https://url_of_the_image[/image]... or something like that.

Alana,

If I'm lucky, I'll never have to do one of these again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
