Thanks for the kind words. Tush, you're right. You have to turn the key half way between lock and unlock and use it to pull the lid up. Funny it took 4 years to add a handle. Steve, it's too well documented to let photobucket ruin it. Once I'm done I'll compile the journey into a PDF I can share with anyone interested. These old cars need all the help we can give their owners to keep the fun alive!

My 54 has a handle with the key hole in the middle.

The lantern clips are the 2 little springs that center the stator tube inside the steering column. Post #81 has several good pictures of these spacers.

I had to build the OD wiring, but I used vintage wiring and tried to make it as close to original as possible...that is shown in post #84.

If you have door handles on your TR2, then they are TR3/3A doors. The TR3 doors still had wood across the top, while the TR3A were all metal except for 2 oak blocks for the sidescreen mounts to screw into. No TR2's were built with handles, and thus their sidescreens required zipper openings to open the doors from the outside. The only key locks were the ignition and boot.

The post number is in the upper right corner, at the beginning of each post. For example, this is post number 187. Just scroll to the number you want to view. You may have to change pages, but normally when I provide a post it has you on the page you need.

Well, the TR2 normally had no handle on the trunk. It has a key tumbler in the middle, and then a fig leaf covered coach lock on each side. A handle would be helpful, though, as you must use the key to pull the trunk open as designed.

i think even the TR2's did away with the zippers when they went to the sliding window sidescreens.

My 54 Long door side windows have flaps that pivot up to get to the opening cord. The flaps are held down with 4 tenax fasteners.

The flaps are different...they are just the way the sidescreen is assembled. As it came from the factory the TR2's would have a zipper in the middle of the flap.

The introduction of the sliding window was at TS8637, so the first TR3. Until then there were no sliding windows and a zipper in the sidescreen flap to reach into the door and open with the pull cord.

This is according to the judging guide..so it is possible there were some odd balls around the change date.

Interesting, Graham. The judging guide does say they were installed on the "GT" variants. Do you know what the "LMX H" spec is? I assume in those days you could order anything they had, thus the differences.
