It hasn't been too long, maybe less than two years, since I changed the dip switch/turn signal switch on my 1974 MGB. The replacement part was made in Taiwan and I've always been doubtful as to its quality. Same goes for the main headlight switch on the dash.
Recently, while driving after dark, the headlights blinked off after I used the turn signals. Some fiddling with the switch got them to come back on, but they were very flicker-prone and have been ever since. I took the switch off and didn't see anything obvious, like corrosion on the terminal, that would cause this.
I've been planning to put relays into the low and high beam headlight circuits, and this problem makes that seem like a more urgent need.
Can I go ahead and do that, or do I need to buy brand-new switches first?
Also, I just changed the starter motor. I scrubbed all the wiring connections that hook up to it before putting everything back together. The motor turns quickly and the car fires right up. Could this be part of the problem? Is there anything else I need to check?
