Wedge TR8 Headlight Problem

The left low beam blows its fuse when turned on. It continues to blow its fuse with the headlight pigtail disconnected. The wiring diagram shows the remaining blue/pink wire running uninterrupted to the fuse box behind the glove box. The actual blue/pink wire is contained in a harness that appears outwardly to be in very good condiltion. I have not been able to move the fuse panel through the opening at the rear of the glove box. Is there any way to access the back of the fuse panel without removing the entire dashboard? Can the fuse box itself be dropped down from behind the glove box? Surprisingly, the diagram shows no headlight relays. Anybody have any experience with this problem? If not, I will probably begin removing the dashboard tomorrow.

I've found that removing the fuse panel is difficult (I've done it). I've only been able to do it through the opening with the dash in place. I'll look at my spare wiring harness and get back to you.

I wonder if the fuses are the correct ones? I think that I would try removing the fuse for the right side low beam and seeing if the left fuse still blows. Just in case you were getting some kind of feedback through the circuit.

I looked over my spare wiring harness and couldn't find anything that may be suspicious between the headlamp connector (blue/pink) and the Fuse panel Blue/pink wire. I measured about 50-60 ohms on the blue/pink wire, which may or may not be helpful and infinite to the ground connector headlamp end of the harness.

Philman, thanks for the reply. I don't understand the feedback idea, but will try your suggestion of removing the right side fuse. I believe only the correct Lucas fuses with the paper inside have ever been used in the car.

Removing the fuse for the right low beam and turning on the low beam light resulted in another blown left low beam fuse.

Before beginning the removal of the dashboard I am again attempting to gain access to the back of the fuse panel through the glovebox.

So far I have been unable to remove the larger metal panel containing the plastic panel holding the double row of fuses after removing the two screws at bottom and the single top screw (still removed in attached photo). The panel cannot be maneuvered enough to fit through the opening.

I have been able to disingage the smaller plastic panel inside the larger metal panel by disengaging the spring clip at the left edge and pushing in, thereby disengaging the two clips on the right edge, but again I cannot get it through its opening. I do not want to break the plastic panel or any connections by using a lot of force.

I want to know what is the best way to change those flashers. Are they all flashers or are some relays?

On a similar subject this is my turn signal flasher. Is this the correct item for this car or is it suppose to be round. My turns don't flash but my hazards do so I'm thinking flasher. The TR6 flasher is similar will it work to test?
Is there suppose to be a holder for this item up under the dash ala the 6?Mine just hangs like the photo shows. There are 2 connections there. the back one is out of view.

both my FHC and DHC just have the flasher and 4way hanging there just like that, it must have been a way to save a few cents. Probably would have cost $.05 each car to mount them

I think my 4 way has a holder. I'll take a photo later and post.
Is there a way to test the turn flasher?
