Thanks for passing that on! I just ordered a quart of Leaf Green from TCP global to see how their "original factory color chip" match looks. If I don't like it I'll try these guys. There seems to be alot of variation in that Leaf Green color for some reason.

You guys probably already know this, but some body shops and many professional automotive paint suppliers can match the paint color of your car perfectly.

My GT6 was repained by a PO and the color (saffron) was not a perfect match for the OEM color. A supplier here matched the color of my GT6 using a laser gun of some kind. It was perfect. I ordered a couple of rattle cans of the stuff, worked like a charm.

This method is worth a try in some cases, and it keeps your money LOCAL.

FWIW.

I'd be interested to know how the paint works. Let me know when you guys get the chance.
Thanks

Have you called Wesco and asked them about that?
I have.

I was told matter of factly that they would take my money to do the service but it would not match perfectly no matter what.

I think that some of us are happy if the color is "close enough" and for those who are the matching service is great.

I had pretty good luck at Westco on an old VW bug that I matched. Take in a panel and they match, even accounting for sun-fading. Hadn't heard of anyone having problems.

Maybe I just got a grouchy guy on the phone when I called.
He did not inspire me to use their services.

Up here we can do the same thing at any Westco store.

Hi Bill,
the problem I have is that none of the paint suppliers I've walked into up here have the color chips or formulas to reproduce these old BMC colors in modern paint. I'm changing the color of my car to Leaf Green so I don't have anything for them to match it to. these guys claim to have the color in their catalog.

Thanks Bill. I looked but Leaf Green isn't there. I'm not sure but I think they only used that color on Sprites in '58 & '59. don't know about MGAs or other Austins.

All of those that live in the Twin Cities, Welle Auto (Blaine and Columbia Hieghts, welleauto.com) can make rattle cans custom for you with paint matching. I highly recommend them.

The Leaf Green paint from TCP global came in today and I'm diggin' it! As long as it lays down well I'll stick with it. It's alot cheaper than PPG. It'll be a couple of weeks but I'll post pics of the outcome.
