WOW, Although I like the CIBIE H4 lights, I don't believe the level of light or their look is so much better then a set of Sylvania H6024 7" Halogens for $24/pair to be worth the very substantial price of the French units. Please don't misunderstand, I appreciate that the CIBIE H4s may have better light projection and a fine look, but is the added light and look worth that much of a premium?
I have my original Lucas driving lights, aimed properly, if I wand a long beam to compliment the wider beam provided by my Halogens. As previous mentioned, I now infrequently drive my Healey after dark, but when I do, I appreciate the added lumens to better expose road hazards (commonly animals) with enough distance to easily maneuver with safety. However, I do have difficulty seeing when inconsiderate drivers in oncoming cars fail to lower their high-intensity beams.
Well, all in all, though I have experienced the quality and performance of premium CIBIEs and Hella headlights installed on Healeys of friends, I would be hard pressed to validate the added performance relative to the added price. I guess this is a choice that falls into the category of personal preference.
Just my thoughts,
