This morning, I was getting ready to spin over the engine in my 65 B', and the starter would just click, and nothing.

I started checking the connection on the starter, battery etc, and could find nothing wrong. When I pushed the solenoid, I could hear an arc, but could not find it. After some looking around, I see that some idiot forgot to connect the engine ground strap (that idiot being me of course).

After hooking everything up, the gear reduction starter from Hap spun the engine without any problem, and lo and behold, 80psi reading on the gauge!

All this done with much help and advice from the members here.

Now to get the intake and exhaust hooked up!

that's what I've heard, I only melted some distributor wiring and the alternator had some flames inside.

I used a 3 amp power supply to test out the wiring, but bad grounds aren't really discovered with low amperage.

Luckily all that stuff was disconnected, so all I got was a few sparks at the ground strap. I figure when it is wiring harness time, I will have to be extra careful and pay attention to what I am doing.

It's just nice to know that my next step is firing the engine up.

Times like these make me wish I'd located nearer my in-laws.
