The Houston "Autorama" was this weekend. I participated in my first car show with the TR3 at the George R Brown Convention center (100' tall, 853,500 square feet of exhibition space). There were hundreds of show cars, and from our club, 2) TR3s, 2)spits, 1)TR6, and 1)TR8.
As should be expected, my car refused to turn over the morning of set-up. Luckily, I rehearsed starter replacement the week before I drove to Pennsylvania. And even more luckily, I still had a selection of starters from Randy sitting in my garage from his last visit -including a hi-torque starter. I swapped starters in under 2 hours and made it to the show by the time everything was set-up and in place but my car.
The club sign in the photo takes a half dozen people to erect. The top is double sided, and fits onto a shaft that runs the length of the sign, with a motor at the bottom, supported by the table. The sign rotates (either direction) and is hard to miss.
First place (in our class) was awarded to the red TR3 pictured (and the person with the most spare starters). Second place went to a very nice 1954 MG TF. Third place was awarded to the person who needed another starter (my yellow TR3). -Randy and I drove our TR3s to the show... it was a nice show, and I am thrilled that I was asked to be in it, let alone get an award. I have Randy to thank, more than once again.
