Door Glass Glazing Strip

I bought a new door glass glazing strip for the driver's side window, since the old one was thin, torn and tatty.

Should the glazing strip be glued to the metal channel, the glass, or both (or neither)?

I'm loath to glue it to both in case I ever need to remove th glass!

Thanks

Julian, on my 74 the glazing seemed to be firmly attached to the lower channel and friction fit to the glass pane.
I don't know if it is glued to the channel or just held by friction as well, but it stayed in the channel when I removed the glass.

Thanks ... I think mine was glued in the channel, but had become loose. I found out it was too loose when I tried winding the window down while sitting in the car, with the roof up ... the glass stayed put, and the mechanism came down and out of contact with the glass!

Julian....
I have exactly the same problem, I have to put downward pressure on the glass as I'm winding or it all comes apart.
Most of the time I don't raise the glass so not too worried but I'd like to fix mine also.

I just finished putting mine in, without any glue. The glazing strip is *very* "tacky", and the glass seems to be very well held. I'll try it like this for a while. I found that I could only fit the strip on one side of the glass: with it folded around the edge of the window the combination was too thick to get inside the metal channel.

Since I have used screws to attach my door trim panels, taking them off is a breeze in case the glass becomes dislodged again, and I need to gain access. (I tried those awful clip things, and they drove me insane, hence the trim screws  )
