Door Seal Fit

I have a question in terms of position of where the door seal should land in relation to the door finisher being applied. To me it looks like in the photo that the finisher comes up too high to allow the door seal to seat properly.

Thank you and I will await for suggestions. GP

So in the above pic , you can see that the rubber door seal has approximately 1/8” - 2/8” to go before it seats fully down - however the finisher flange will not permit it to unless this is cut - did anyone have this same issue or am I doing something wrong here ? The finisher is fully seated also against the pillar .

I honestly don’t remember that much about installing mine but is the finisher piece in the right place. It appears in the photo that it is not against the latch panel tightly.

Hello, yes the finisher is in the correct position , perhaps maybe it can go in a tad , but not much as it is up tight against the pillar already .

Most people who work on Healeys say the weather strip should go on first, then the finisher installed on top, and that is what helps keep the weatherstripping on.

I will try to attach some pics of what I have on my car. Maybe it will help.

Vette , thanks for the pictures as this answers my questions and totally clears it up . The door seal I have is clearly different than the one in your pictures - yours has a flap that comes back over to cover the finisher . My door seal is a black bulb and does not open up to cover the finisher - that is the difference. Thank u .

I’m again not sure but appears your finisher is shaped different from mine. Don’t know which is correct. Mine is a BJ7 and the finishers were on the car when I bought it well over 20 years ago. I believe mine have a knife edge turned up after the roll. The knife edge against the flange of the sill is what the seal slides onto. At least that is my memory.

No BT7 but rather some Lotus Elans. You need a "lip" seal, not that tubular one. Contact these guys, discuss what you're looking for:

Here are some shots of my BT7. I think this is Brisleflex. It's been installed for about 5 years and doesn't come lose like some brands. The rubber bulb seals well against the interior door card. Your bulb seems a bit large to me.
