TR6 Custom Hardtops - aftermarket top TR6

Folks,

I have a 76 TR6 for the last 2 years and picked up a Custom Hardtops after market vinyl top( Long Beach,CA) in beautiful shape. I was tol it was for a TR6.

Here is the problem:
Althought the front bolts line up exactly, with the windows rolled up, there is a good 2in gap between the window and the hardtop (on the door handle side) even thought the rubber weatherstripping is there. The top is a Custom Hardtops top with a Triumph emblem on the side.
Could the op be for another Triumph model?

Welcome to the Forum! I can't help you with your specific problem, but I'm confident that someone will be in shortly with something helpful. If I were to guess I'd say, maybe you've got a Spitfire top, though it would likely not fit even as well as you describe. It's possible though, as the Spit and the TR4-6 were the same width and even used the same windshield, on the early Spits, save for the mounting angle. Again, welcome aboard and good luck.

The Custom Hardtop Serial # is 25235. I can send pics if that will help.

That does look like a TR6 top. Others will need to chime in, but the spitfire tops I have seen are different shape at the base.

Interesting, the logo is for a 2or 3 isn't it?

How does the top line up with the rest of the body- b post for example? I think it should extend along the lines of that post, something like this for a factory hardtop. If it does, and you have the gap, time to look at your door glass alignment?

My original hard top also has a gap between the window and the top....

The window is adjusted all the way up too

The b post finisher cap is in the way of the top sitting flush. I didn't think they would need to come off, but maybe they do.
