They certainly liked playing with wood, and apparently, are quite good at it too!
When I still lived in San Francisco (late 70s) I came home one day and saw a Bugeye parked in front of my house. It was unique in that it had a trunklid (no exposed hinges and a typical Spridget style "T" handle). But that wasn't what really set it apart; it had the complete wood dash from a Jaguar 3.8-type sedan. Gorgeous job (top was off, so I could look close) and the only obvious difference was that the center section (console area) had been abreviated to fit the narrower cockpit.
I kept going back out to check, hoping to meet the owner, but he slipped away undetected. I never found out who he was, who he was visiting, and never saw the car again. The car was BRG, and I'm thinking the interior was tan, but I'm not sure about that...
