Interesting custom van

A friend of mine built a custom van in the 1970's, drove it for a few years and then put it into storage for many years, recently he brought it back out of storage, here are the shocking results...

He was active in a custom van club back then and told me that his van was easily the wildest one in the club... :yesnod: And that Valiant is also his car in case you're wondering...

My first car was a 68 Ford, I loved it, not modified in any way....Time to put that "Bow-Tie" back in storage.

Is that an early dodge or gm van with a new front end?

Ya know, I should have asked him, I didn't at all, but I'm guessing there are at least three vans in there somewhere...

Far out. It started as '64-'66 "Flat Glass Windshield" Chevy/GM. Note the exposed door hinges and that the driver and passenger seats sit on top of the front (solid) axle. Drove one for awhile delivering parts for NAPA right after getting out of active duty.

Tha is a 60"s Chevy van with a 70's Chevy van
front clip grafted on just in front of the windshield.
Looks like everything from the side doors back was hand made,
then they took the back of the 60's van and used it to complete
the rest of the vehicle.

Not ashamed to admit it, but I had a 71 Chevy van back in those days
and cruised Van Nuys Blvd every Wednesday night.
