Choke cable selection

I was at a show on Sunday and a member pointed out that I really should replace my Throttle & Choke cables. I checked out the moss cat. and the description of cables knob is this:

Approx 62-67 is a "C"
Approx 68-69 is a "FAN" shaped pattern.

Mine is a fan. How can I tell if this is the original. Does anyone have any pics of their '67's knob.

Vping, Was your 67 a very late production model? I understand that some of the very late 67 models had the fan knob, but by all accounts, it's supposed to have the "C" knob. I guess it was a BL thing to use what was at hand. I also understand that some very early 1970s had the fan knob but was supposed to have the "T" knob. Probably left overs from 69. I had a 70 with the fan knob. Don't know if it came with it originally though. PJ

Vping,

My B is a late '66 early '67 model with a 'T' choke handle. I have been told that in mid '67 there was a change from the all metal dash to one that has a much more 'padded' dash rather than just the strip along the top of dash....

Ergo, I THINK, with an all steel dash, the 'T' is correct....

B's had the knob with the 'C' until '68 and the "fan" lookin' thing. I converted a newer cable to the old handle to maintain the "look". I don't recall they ever had a "T" handle. I put up pix someplace here of the method and results. I'll dig around for the pix.

Soo OK...

Where in the world did my 'T' handle come from??? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

Bside.. I have enough trouble keeping my A parts from my B parts... not to mention the C, and D, and F, ad infinitum... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

IIRC, they were a 'rumphy part. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

There were a LOT of those swapped about 'back in th' day'. Jag may have used 'em too... I'll look thru my archives. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

T-handles were from late model MGBs. If it's a late '66 then a "C" knob would be correct. However I have not found a source of good quality C knobs in a long time. Any of the three knobs will work but I like the look of the C knob best. Moss fan knobs seem to be of decent quality and would be correct for a late '67.

Car ## 114360 so I am not sure if it is a late car or not.

If it has reversing lamps, it probably had a fan knob. If no reversing lamps, C knob. But again, either will work. The quality (of lack thereof) of the C knobs is the only reason I would consider something else. They bind, then the inner o-ring tears apart and eventually the housing collapses. If you find a good source, let me know!

Okay. Must have started at about the same point as the RB's. Is your dash the one with vents in it?

No reverse lights but it has a "fan" knob. Seeing is that the "C" is of lesser quality, I might go with the "fan"
