Caliper Bolts

I'm rebuilding brakes on the '64 Spitfire. I found the washers that hide in the brake caliper at a place here in Phoenix. As I bolt the halves together, I set the torque at 35 lbs/ ft.- based on the size of the bolt. Any other thoughts?

What size bolts are they?
I don't know what would be on a Spitfire caliper; but the 'big' TRs take 75 ftlb on the inner 7/16 bolts and 45 ftlb on the outer 3/8" bolts. That's slightly more than the 'standard' torques for Grade 5 but less than Grade 8; so I believe the original bolts were somewhere between 5 & 8.

I can't remember which Girling calipers you have; but would think 35# is a bit on the weak side.
Might try the Lotus guys as they use the same calipers on the 7's.

There are two 7/16 bolts to hold the calipers together. I checked another source- 46 was the number there. I notice there are dependencies among the various manuals on other items.
