Talked with my machinist an hour ago.
.002", and the issue is usually wrong guides. Sleeves take more work to function long-term, but there are some spurious guides out there that don't work. Bronze, and if the outer finish is dull, walk away. Needs to be shiny.
Tooling. Gets worn, and folks think a reamer that would give them .002" clearance is good, but it's worn and they don't want to replace tools, then you get too tight, and if that's the case, it will probably be all of them.
If it was mine, I'd be pulling the head and having the valves and guides checked.
Last thing that you need it to be on a trip, climb a 3,000 foot grade in the summer, and have this or worse happen.
