TR2/3/3A Brake and Clutch Master Pushrod Question

Hi guys,

TR3A question.

Just wondering where i should initially set up the length of the pushrods on my newly installed brake and clutch master cylinders. Should they be set all the way out, or somewhere in the middle etc etc.

Cheers
Tush

PS, it is possible to loose pins and springs down the openings where the pedals come up and out.....grrrr

I'm thinking I set them at whatever length eliminated all play - i.e. firm against the piston.

Wouldn't anything you drop thru that opening simply fall to the driver's floorboard?

OTOH, things I drop sometimes seem to move into another dimension (a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind...)

You need to have at least some freeplay in the pushrod with the cylinder piston all the way out.

Usually that's not an issue on the later cars without the pedal stops; so you can set the pushrods at whatever gives you the pedal height you like.

If memory serves, any little nut or pin dropped into those slots is apt to wind up in the cavity inside the cover/brace on the inside. But I don't recall ever having any trouble with it, the clevis pins are too big to fit through the slot with the pedals installed. And if I drop a cotter pin, I just go get another one.

I have a lot more trouble with the slot at the back of the fender, which has a cavity under it. The slope of the fender (and my driveway) makes even small wrenches apt to try to make it through there.

Thanks guys.

I was actually able to fit a Clevis pin down in there somehow along with on of the little springs Randall :welcoming:

I was hoping they would drop through to the carpet on the inside but I guess they are now in the hollow of the pedal box that is bolted to the underside of the bulkhead...in order to get them back, I would have to take everything apart again. I think they are going to stay in their new home. I don't think they will interfere with anything hopefully...

Cheers

Oh well, sometimes you get the elevator, and sometimes you get the shaft.
