I am having extreme trouble starting my MGB (1979) when it is cold (Southern California so, not so cold). Anyway, this is new to me as this car has always started right up. The car has sat for a while (6 months) and I thought that the automatic choke might be the problem.
I took off the three screws holding the cover on it and after I removed the temperature sensing spring I noticed that the attaching point (the arm) did not seem to move. Should it?
I have checked the three manuals that I have and none of them seem to talk much about this feature. As a matter of fact, the carburetor shown is actually a little bit different than mine! Mine has the input for the gas on the side closest to the firewall and all of the pictures show the input on the side facing the front of the car. My 1975 is like the picture but this car is a little bit different.
Any thoughts on my problem? The car starts fine once it is warm and this is a new problem. I have not started the car in six months and it used to start right up.
Thanks,
Scot Stern
