Ok, I know I am going to get flamed for this, so please understand the car is not being resotred to original.

Now for the question; I am going to be removing the antenna from the fender and need a viable replacement which can me completely concealed, as I will be shaving the fender smooth.

Thanks in advance

Toups, Find a spot up under the car. Make two brackets, One that mounts and grounds the antenna Mt to the car and a second one that stabilizes and insulates the shaft from ground.--FWIW---Keoke

My car is set up just like you describe - no antenna...

You can also find dipole antennas made on fiberglass PC boards with amplifiers that can be hidden in many areas - including just under the top portion of the dashboard. You can use the self-stick tape they come with or use industrial-strength velcro (they also require a 12vdc source for the preamp).

Antennas hidden under the metal structure of the car sometimes don't work all that great, an alternative is to put a feedline on the radio with a female BNC connector on the end, then go to a ham radio store and buy a 2-meter 1/4-wave mag-mount antenna to stick on the car when you want to listen to it - or the antenna can be set on the floor behind the seats and works pretty well. I use a dual band (2-meter/440Mhz) antenna with a 1" mag-mount base and it works great for FM and reasonably good on AM "in town":

Is your car a GT or Roadster?

If it is a GT than you could use the trick I used on my C GT:

I used a Glass type aerial (the type which is a thin stainless steel wire with a transparent tape to stick it to the screen)which has had the tape removed and the wire tucked behind the piping on the dash crash pad. This is directly behind the windscreen and so there is no metal blocking reception and it's virtually invisible.

It works really well on FM band but less well on AM band and could work on a Roadster as well I guess except I don't know how well the setup would cope with exposure to the elements in the longer term.

regards

Go to your local car audio shop and ask for a hidden antenna.
My son picked one up for me and I have it hidden in the speaker panel behind the seats in my Sprite.
I do not know the particulars, it's small and it works great.
