Radio Antenna

Does anyone have a good source of a stock radio antenna for a '69 Sprite IV? Mine was loose. I was able to tighten it, and then it loosened again. When I tightened it a second time, I felt that wonderful stripped threads feeling. Now the antenna is flopping all over the place. There are two small screws on the mast, that might help me repair the antenna mast, but these are completely frozen. The only way to get them out is to drill them out. I will do that, but I wanted to have another antenna on hand just in case my surgery attempt failed. Right now, I have the antenna jerry-rigged with duct tape under the fender to hold it at a reasonably straight angle, and if it does flop, it flops towards the windscreen. I've checked the usual suspects for an antenna (Moss, BPNW, etc.) but no one seems to carry one.

The general consensus is that radios (and antennas) were (mostly) dealer installed accessories. As such they were pretty generic. A quick look and rockauto has them for not very much money (under $20)

So I ordered a replacement antenna from Rock Auto and proceeded to drill out the screws on the antenna. Once I got the antenna removed, it was pretty clear this was either a dealer-installed antenna or a DIY installation, as the hole for the antenna was not particularly well shaped. It's round, more or less, but it does not look professional.

While I have the radio box pulled to install the antenna, I was thinking of either replacing the radio (a late 70s vintage Clarion) or pulling the radio and trying to figure out why the cassette player doesn't work. My wife and I still have a ton of cassettes in the house. I've been looking around a similar vintage used radios. Maybe I'm too picky, but I just think a radio with a digital readout just doesn't look right in the car.

After pulling out the radio box, there was such a rat's nest of wiring that I figured discretion was the better part of valor. I attached the new antenna and decided to call it a day. If I didn't have other priorities, or started on this earlier in the winter, I'd consider proceeding. FM Stereo is still better than N-O Stereo. Maybe next winter now that I know the animal I'm having to deal with.
