Several things...

...but that won't stop the bidding from going through the roof.

"Complete Professional Restoration" is my latest nomination to the used car ad catch phrase hall of fame, taking its place alongside such gems as "creampuff" and "concourse winner"!

It's nice, but...

I don't like chrome wire wheels on the older cars; just too "flashy" -- but that's just me.

I do wonder what some of the "many rare options" are; do they include the hardtop that I don't see (although mounts are on the windscreen frame)? Do they also include the TR4 engine in red, or the "wood" center dash?

What's there seems to be pretty well done, but "one of the nicest examples in the country"? Perhaps, depending on how one defines "nicest" and how many other cars are in the running for the same title.

John: Do you know if this will be televised and the date/time?

It's always televised on the speed channel I believe.
I'll see the car I suspect as I always go but it's so hard to tell from pics.
Obviously has the lockheed brakes but I can't make out the brake hydraulics in the black engine bay pic. Can't tell if it's the original unit.
The engine is a mix and match deal with a breather hose on the valve cover, HS6 carbs with the later TR3a fuel delivery fittings/connections.
Can't tell if the motor is correct as no TS was given.
The wiper unit is on the correct right side for an early car.
Not correct but looks like a nice car and wouldn't be hard to make stock.
$25 to $30 k maybe if it's done properly. BJ is not a big seller for Brit cars although I've seen some AH's go very high when presented by restoration specialists done to factory standard. Rarely see TRs there maybe one or two max and usually hobby restos'.

Frank- Im pretty sure Jan19-24 on Speed Channel. Im sure you can get all the auction times off their web site. Not sure if this car will make the show, because it's usually a lot of customs and muscle cars. Did anyone catch the TR4 that went for $94 grand a couple of years ago? Spiking the drinks??

According to the website it is scheduled to be auctioned off on Thursday the 21st. If it gets on the show is another question.

Howdy Folks,

I pulled up the Website; Inserted the Lot # but I can`t seem to get any pics to show-up? What do I need to do?

Thanx, Russ

I'll sell TS1203LO for half of whatever it brings at B-J...

Careful with that, not everything at B-J sells for stupid money.

You're probably right, but I'll wager he's pretty safe...

mmm...just came across this thread from 12/31/09. Looks like the car sold for $39k. Not to be a nitpicker because god bless BJ for getting a good $$ for it, and best wishes to the new buyer, but how many less than perfect or original things can this detail oriented crowd spot in the 4 pictures? I'll start:
1) red engine
2) wood grain center panel

Anybody else?

CLICK!

Really too much to mention -- though if the work was well-done most of the non-original stuff could be more or less righted or disguised, even the TR4 engine... and the result might be a pretty nice car.

Missing black grab bar

Missing door opening pulls

Missing drive shaft grease plug

Tacky looking carpet and equally tacky shifter boot

Has what appear to be modern (silver) toggle switches installed in dash (left of speedo & right of tach).

Battery cables obviously wrong (what's with that $.95 battery clamp?!)

Has overdrive switch on dash, but no mention of overdrive.

Hard to be sure, but I see what appears to be a lot of little body work flaws near the LH stanchion.

Isn't the hood stick cover supposed to be the same color as the interior?

Of course that Union Jack on the LF fender doesn't belong there.
