Found: 1955 Austin Healey 100-4

Fellow Healeyites, Here is a description of the 1955 AH 100-4 in Iowa that I found a month ago. It is rough, but not as rough as my BT7 or BJ7 was when I first got them. The guy wants $7500 which I think is too steep. It has no motor, no gearbox and no boot lid. Supposedly everything else is there. The rust doesn't look too bad and typical for the Midwest. I don't know about the frame though. Someone tried a V8 conversion and chopped a motor mount off about 40 years ago. Question: What do you guys think this is worth?
I'm trying to post the pics but not having any luck.

Oh, it does have two hood louvers, one on each side. I don't think this car is an M though.

If it has decent shrouds, bonnet, boot, wings, and a clear title with all the factory ID plates, maybe $3K IMHO.

We had a fellow show up at a recent All Brit Car show in the area this past Sept and on his trailer he had a AH 3000 BJ8 that was rough but the motor fired right up and he drove it off the trailer. He was asking $8500, most thought that was too high.

Checked out the Healey this afternoon. It is very rough. It had a full V8 conversion and the motor brock lose on the mounts and "spun" in the engine compartment. The radiator took a major hit. the fenders each need work and new doglegs and more. The front shroud is dented and cracked big time on the two front corners. There are a lot of missing parts. The slave and master cylinders are gone, all engine linkage gone. There is rust in the trunk floor, and front floor-boards. I'm thinking more for parts for someone in the region of $3000 at most. The frame looks ok. There is no title. The numbers on the inside of the aluminum trim had 9810. This was likely a late BN1,...I think.

WOW!! If he gets that for a rot box with a V8, maybe I should put my BN1 inheretance project on the market. Frame has been all repaired, engine and tranny rebuilt. Just needs me to get heat in shop and a lot more time on my hands! LOL

According to my Hundred Registry, Body 9810 indicates a BN1 built about mid July '55, so a relatively late one. Too bad she can't be saved for the right price. Kilmartin makes everything metal wise you would need to put her right. Engines and gearboxes can always be found.

The owner put it on Craigs List for $6500. He told me it went to Florida. Hopefully someone will restore it. It was a total eyesore though.
