Why does getting a Moss, TRF, or VB box seem like

Heck, it feels like Christmas now. My Christmas presents are often contained in such boxes. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Yeah...except that when I was 10 years old, those places didn't exist (except Moss, for T-series MG parts). On the other hand, the dealers were still around then.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Better than Christmas because it's something I really want. Except last night whn I opened the pkg and it was the wrong part. Could have been a tie.
I'm sure the UPS guy must think I'm building a car from scratch judging from the size of some of the boxes they send.

I know *exactly* what you mean. LOVE it when a box shows up on my porch. Like the fuel pump for the MGC that should arrive today!

Sometimes I try to stash the box before my better half asks "what did you get THIS time?" Too bad my last box arrived a few hours after Fagin left on the flatbed after the brake fluid had all exited the right front caliper. The shop said the car should be coming back next week sometime. We shall see.

Funny you should say that. When I first started rebuilding the 3 and was getting parts every week delivered by the UPS guy he asked that very question. What's in all the boxes?

I told him when the last box arrived I would show him. The last big box containing the trunk lid arrived and I brought him down to the garage. When I showed him the car and pointed out all the parts he delivered he told me it was worth every ache and pain in his back.

Oh, and how do I feel when the UPS box arrives - Like it's my birthday but I can't tell anyone... - It's a secret.

The anticipation can be brutal - waiting to see what, if any, parts are NOT in the box (backordered)! The box that arrived today was pretty good - out of 22 parts ordered, only 1 was backordered and this order included the entire front suspension kit!

I usually try to get to the box first also but today I failed miserably. Not only did the UPS guy get here before me, he woke my wife up from a nap! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

You know, for me, buying a new part means desperation since I always prefer to use NOS or good used parts...I just don't like the quality of most of the stuff you buy from the big 3...

Unfortunately, unlike Christmas at 10 years old, we have to pay for these packages.
I too am anxiously awaiting a long list of winter project parts.

When our 'new' TR4 came off the car carrier my wife immediately sat down with the catalogs from the Big 3 and made her list of the things we would need to get.

Even when we kid about them I guess we know we couldn't be happy in the hobby without their support or at least tolerance.

I'm with you George, my wife is a good wrench and a great diagnostician and loves going to tool sales and car meets. Think I'll keep her, heh.

My biggest frustration is the dreaded "waiting for parts"!
I'm always happy to see the box on the front porch though. I don't compare it to Christmas though it's more like Yea! I can get this or that project done!

Does she have a sister???

Just kidding, my wife's great.

Got to tell you, I have been waiting for Konis for
the rear for an awfully long time now.

Bought the Blindmoose adapter kit to install the
shocks; went on line and ordered by the numbers the
very Konis recommended to work with the kit. Not
from one of the Big Three.

I think that was around the end of June. Still
waiting.

I' always amazed that such a small box can hold parts that cost so much.

BTW, I'm still waiting for my new top, special ordered through lbcarco in April. Still NO TOP!

Better than the big box that hold mostly crumpled newspapers. It takes longer to compress the paper for recycling than it does to install the part...
