I have been struggling all afternoon trying to close the jack (drain) hole in my new floorboards with a weld-in disc. Kept burning the plug up. Till I decided to get the manual out on my mig welder. I had way too many volts. Turned it down and, voila, good results. I had even resorted to going over to a professional welders shop to seek out his services.
When he quoted me a fee, I decided to read my manual. DS.

I get a distinct feeling that the gauge thickness of the new floorboards is not the same at the originals.

This may be a good time to stiffen the frame where my outboard bracket on my swingarm bolts. Totally healthy metal, but a little stiffener can't hurt.

mebbe if you get down to the docks you could find some nice quarter-inch boiler plate for your frame stiffeners!
