Still debating about painting here, but in any case I need to get the interior sorted at some point.

Can anyone identify what these holes on the rear deck are for?

I put white arrows where the holes are - and they are symmetrical from side to side.

If you are going to paint, that sheet of tar should be peeled off, can be done with a sharp, wide chisel, a mallet and elbow grease.

Oh - duh. Seems kind of obvious now that you state it Bill.

I'm not planning on installing one so I think I'll just weld up those holes and be done with it.

And yes, all that crap will come off before anything gets painted.

I was going to put the cigar out first - lol.

Actually I was planning on putting the metal/foil back heat shield material up as a temporary barrier first. Stray sparks here don't seem like a good idea - thanks for asking Doug.

Kodajna - yes, the leading threoy was that there was a roll bar there at some point.

You might want to seal the throat of the tank since the gas cap seal is good against liquid, but not necessarily fumes. Once sealed, you may even be able to relight that cigar. :laugh: ...not!

TD get a roll bar or use rubber plugs to fill those holes (that's what Triumph did), a whole lot less expensive.
