The ammeter on my 61 TR3 constantly reads around 30 amps at anything over 1200 rpm. I suspect my voltage regulator is not cutting out and I'd like to test it, but I cannot find anything written on how to do it. Can someone help. Is it just easier to replace it? Thanks.

The Bently manual has a very good step-by-step procedure for testing/adjusting the control box settings. I tried to follow it when I experienced similar problems with the voltage control box on my TR4. After completely screwing the thing up, I ended up buying a new one - sparks and magic, bah!
If don't find the procedure elsewhere, I can scan the appropriate sections of the manual for you this evening (it will be late) and shoot them to you.
