Wedge TR7 Lucas Distributor Part Number

Sorry to keep posting on this issue, but my distributor queries are getting more interesting...my distributor on my 1980 TR7 is part number 41701A...and it looks EXACTLY like the picture of the Lucas Opus unit pictured on page 109 of Vicky Brit's TR7 catalog.

Can someone who KNOWS they have this distributor read the part number off the base of it and let me know.

It's weird -- is it possible that someone converted my 1980 to a Lucas electronic distributor which was converted to points? The cap and rotor look standard, just with no anti-flash cover. I have some MGB points and condensers in my stash, so I'll compare them to what's in there.

I once did that very thing with my '78 Spitire. When the Lucas electronic ignition died, I found an older MG points distributor and ran it for another 50,000 miles until I sold it. At least with points you can change them or adjust them when the car won't start. Knock on wood, my TR-7 has started every day in all weather except when the starter motors have failed. At least it could be push started!

My '66 Land Rover has the standard Lucas points distributor and as long as I'm prudent with maintenance, it always starts, too.

Wish I could help, but mine uses the dreaded Delco ignition system.
