TR6 TR6 Soft top installation

Does anyone have some detailed pictures of their top? Inside and out? I need to install a new one, and stupid me, I didn't take pictures. I really need pictures of the insdie front bar that attaches to the windscreen and the bar in the back. Anything you have would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am in the same boat, only I never had one to look at. My TR4 prohect came with no top and only the frame work with no webbing. If you get any details, can you please send me an email or message letting me know.

The bar in the back is where you begin,you install it in the new top then bolt it on to the car.If you have never put one on you should seek someone who has, as it something of a 2 man deal in anycase.....

I did mine in a few hours using Roger Williams "How to Restore the TR250/Tr5 and TR6". I bought a Robbins top, which also requires that you install the "female" snaps on the side of the top to match the stud locations on the body. You will need to buy a snap installation tool ( punch with a dished cup) to fit the snap to the top. I found that using a medium sized C-clamp worked well with this tool.
My webbing was in good condition, but I did have to change the position of the webbing hold down on the rear most top hoop to better match the transverse seam locations on the new top.
As Mad Dog says you start with the bar on the back and work forward.

One more question...concerning the header rail (the one with the latches), I know it fits on both ends through the small rivet-like object. Mine keeps coming off. Is it supposed to be able to come off, or are the rivets supposed to permenantly attach it to the header rail? If so, then I guess I need to weld just a little bit to keep it on?

If you mean the front rail is detaching from the front of the part of the frame that runs over the windows, no - it shouldn't be able to come out. It shouldn't be fixed rigidly either (I don't think). I had one of them that would come out before which I fixed by straightening out the header rail with vise grips. Pete
