St Ignace , Michigan car show.

My buddy called me up tonight to let me know my car made it on you tube - someone put up a slideshow of pictures( to music that isn't my first choice, but whatever) of the 2010 show...
sure enough at 3:15 in the slideshow there is Midge! to funny.

very nice, though I must say I feel a little Sesame Street coming on: "one of these cars is not like the others. All the other cars are kind of the same. One of these cars is not like the others. Noe it's time to play our game, it's time to play our game."

Hey...my MGB-GT made it at 4:27 of Part II. Amazing that the photographer skipped the Jaguar XK 120.

Just a reminder for anyone who can make it to the upper penninsula of Michigan in late June... Kevin, Steve, Jim ... and hopefully some others...

June 23- 25

I'm planning on having both the 67 & 74 there, the 74 is not quite as presentable as the 67 (and 67 is far from perfect) but I think some people will still appreciate having a 1st generation 1275 & last generation 1275 Midget side by side, fun to note all the differences.

Plus now that I have a fiance she can drive the second car for me, then we will be getting married 2 weekends after St.Ignace, followed by unofficial honeymoon to the Midget 50th(official is Finland trip next year) Currently she is learning to drive standard on my Honda Civic, then I will introduce her to my "3 on the tree" 79 F100, after that she will be ready for a Spridget gearbox !

Hope to see some forum members there again this year !

Hi Jer,

First, congratulations on your engagement!!! It sounds like you've got a winner there - she's learning to drive the stick shift - excellent!!!

Yes, we plan to be at St. Ignace again this year. And this time we are bringing the Spridget. We hope to give you a run for your money in the Popular Choice Award this year (LOL)!!!

Seriously, it's going to be a busy summer with St. Ignace and the Midget 50th. I've got to upgrade the brakes in the Spridget before putting all those miles on. Now if only the snow would melt so I could get the LBCs on the road.....

Looking forward to seeing you again,

Steve

Thanks guys, Always happy to share a picture of my beautiful Fiance
After she went for a ride in my 74 Midget on a cold rainy day with a leaky hardtop that dripped onto her lap last fall and she wasn`t mad I knew I had to get a ring on her finger real quick !
JP thanks for the offer, currently we have her pastor that she has known since she was little marrying us, but always good to have plan ``B``

Congratulations, and an extra big thumbs up for finding one willing to learn to shift.

The first time she encountered a stop that had a slight uphill grade she let the car roll back to much when she went to cross the highway & then stalled, so I explained that once she takes her foot of the brake she has to start letting the clutch out & get on the gas right away... she took that literally & laid rubber across the highway, I was cringing as I still have the soft winter tires on & she probably took one season off them - she looks over at me with a big smile & says " I'm burning rubber !, that smells funny !"

I plan on going this year but not sure if the midget will be there. It had a minor scrape with the chevelle I'm restoring a year or so ago and needs paint repair. Plus while I was going thru my extra parts, I found the magic spacer that is suppose to be on the transmission shaft that goes into the crankshaft. OOPS! Was fun cruzing up there so maybe I'll put the chevelle on ice and rush to get the midget ready. If I don't get the car ready I'll be sure to stop and say hi to you during the show.
Congrats on the engagement.

Jer - congrats on both the engagement and having two working spridgets!!

Unfortunately (well, really it's fortunately, you'll see why...) I won't be at the show this year. Sprite is still in pieces - sold my house and currently just signed on construction of a new place (with a 3 car garage - WOOHOO!!). Therefore, the Sprite and all of my tools are safely tucked away in storage. That's the reason the Sprite won't be there.

As for me...the reason I will not be there is that my wife and I are expecting our first child, and she's due July 5th! We definitely want to remain local that close to her due date.

So, no Sprite or us this year, however, next year we'll have a new little LBC-er up there, and, with some luck, a blue Sprite!

Steve - I am bummed I'll be missing the midget! Reg has told me all about it!

Congrats, that's exciting news!

Fantastic news, on the house and kid-on-the-way.

Hey Kevin,

Congratulations!!!! Great news!!!! The new baby and the new house (with 3 car garage - I'm jealous!)
Sorry you'll miss St. Ignace and the (in)famous party afterwards. But there is always next year.

Steve

Thanks everyone -

And, Steve - at least we got to have dinner with Linda last year. Would have been a tragedy if it was this year and I missed it!

One of these years the Sprite will actually be functional again! I always wondered how a project could sit for 10 years...well, I've owned it for about 9 years, the first three of which is was a paperweight, and the last three of which it's once again a paperweight!

Congrats Kevin ! You have some very acceptable excuses for not attending this year ! ha ha ha
That's great news, look forward to seeing your Sprite & the little LBC'r next year !

2 weeks from today I will be in St.Ignace for the show (actually thursday night I will be there), now I just have to get the fiance some drive time on the 74' so I can have both cars there !
Anyone who can make it (even without an LBC) make sure you swing by the area by the Colonial Inn (big ol' yellow hotel) area, that's where I'll be & Steve is usually just across the road & down, so that's where the LBC's should be !

I had fiance practising driving standard this week & she is doing really well, then last night we were on a slope, right hand turn at a light & the person behind us was right on our bumper, fiance freaked as she was worried she would roll back & hit the jerk - she did fine but got spooked, then in parking lot at store she stalled turning into a spot & was flustered because cars were behind her waiting...

Looks like I will only have one car in St.Ignace, she want's to go in the 74 & I will be driving ;-)

See anyone who is attending next week !

Is always better to ride in car with wife, fiance, and or girl friend. Tis a bonding situation you know. lol
