St Ignace , Michigan car show.

Hi Jer...got my package from Nostalgia Productions a couple of weeks ago also. We will probably come up on Thursday in order to meet some friends from Florida who will be in the area escaping from the heat and humidity (and tropical storms). We'll do the parade on Friday if we can get near the front to avoid overheating. And on Saturday we'll be across from the ACE hardware looking for shade. I'm sure we'll find each other so we can catch up on whatever since the Midget 50th...

Forecast is looking better for this weekend ! Tonight I have to get both cars cleaned up (the best they can be for drivers:smile: ) & tomorrow the wife & I will be headed down right after work, nice 1 hour drive down the Mackinaw Trail. See you there Steve & anyone else who might show up from the BCF !

I seen the midgets/sprites at the car show- they looked good. How about friday ? That was the most rain I've seen since I started going. It was funny watching them try to get Linda Vaughn and Courtney Hansen undercover when the bottom fell out of the sky. I did see the bugeye/sprite in the parade-he had a big smile on his face! Heard people asking what kind of car it was so you got some attention! I wanted to bring my midget but I got dumb and decided to buy a house so all the extra funds are being consumed by the house monster-maybe next year.
You guys did good representing the british crowd.

The Friday night parade at St. Ignace was representative of British weather...it poured! But because of the slow speed, my Spridget stayed mostly dry on the inside. And we really appreciated all the spectators who stayed through the rain to watch the parade. We were applauding them as much as they were applauding us! On Saturday, the weather was beautiful, and Jer and I represented the LBC hobby with our Midgets and Sprites. And a LBC (Large British Car) - 1957 Jaguar XK120 coupe - owned by a friend of mine, Dave Foster, represented British Cars even better as he won an award as one the the Top 40 cars at the show. Overall another great St. Ignace show. Steve

Here we go again. It's time for the yearly round up/roll call. Who's going and who's bringing their cars? After not bringing mine for a few years, I'm 90 percent sure mine's going this year. 10 percent you wonder? Well if my health(had a stroke 2 months ago 44 years old-no apparent reason) and an apparent divorce(after 19 years of marriage) doesn't take my ability or my car I'll be there. Who's in and who's doing the cruise?

Wife & I will be there this year - Only bringing one car either the 67 or 74... 2nd car will be wife's SUV to haul the baby, crib etc. I won't be in parade, but will be in the show - Hope you can make it Jim ! :encouragement:

At least one british car sounds good. A crib? Does that force you out of the colonial house inn? I remember they had a no kids policy when I tried to go there one year. I usually go up friday afternoon but I'm gonna try early friday this year. Hope to pass you and say hi. That's two. any more?

Those might have been the rules with the previous owners... the new owners are 180 degrees from the "corvette club" days at the Colonial ;-) When I checked in back in 2009 they told me "you relaize this is car show weekend & there are no quiet hours, most people are up really late" and then proceeded to show me where they have the mini freezers full of ice for keeping our coolers of beer cold. They are very accomodating so far they didn't seem to mind when I told them last year that we would be back with a baby & playpen in 2014. We will be down on thursday evening, usually arrive after the Casino cruise as I work until 4'ish & have to drive an hour down to St.Ignace...

Good to know things have changed. My daughter was 9 or 10 if I remember correctly and they said no. I'd be there thursday but I have to wait for my dad and daughter so I can't. hope to see you there I will be bringing the red 79 midget. She's due a touch up restoration but I'm bringing it anyways. Hopefully a few more british cars will show up.

We'll be there again, probably coming on Thursday afternoon, staying with friends out by the airport.
With regard to the kerfuffle, periodically, St. Ignace needs to be reminded that the Car Show is a good thing for the community, economically, socially, PR-wise, etc. And hopefully they have now been convinced, and we will have a good show.
Looking forward to seeing a couple more British cars this year.
Steve

I might... might have the wife convinced to leave the baby with my mother for the weekend, therefore I'm thinking we should bring both cars down & try the parade this year, I enjoy watching the parade, but might be fun to "represent" the LBC's a bit more & see the parade from a different view point... yeesh only about 2 months away... with the weather outside you would never believe it !!

Less than 3 weeks to go !
Looking forward to "Car Show Weekend", both cars are operational & fluid changes & check over have been done, just need a good cleaning done to both - local car show this coming weekend so that will give me the push to get them shined up!

To those who are coming - See you there !!

It looks like we will not be there this year. We are doing our first NAMGBR event (MG2014 in French Lick, IN) starting this Sunday through Thursday. And we have other commitments just before and after the St. Ignace weekend. So someone else will have to uphold British Car pride this year. And you can have my parking spot across from the ACE Hardware parking lot. Safety Fast.

sswarin, we'll see you at French Lick! Hopefully there will be a good turnout of Spridgets. After the show, we are going to cruise up the west coast of MI and up to see the Sault Ste. Marie locks, but we'll be in St. Ignace about a week too early for the show. If I get my passport in time, maybe we'll even check out SSM, Ontario.

I'm in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, if you make it up this way & have time I 'd be happy to meet up & show you around, beautiful time of year to be up this way! Even if you don't get your passport I could come across the river to say hello & if you like a good knock down hamburger & fries I know just the place !

Wow!! That's a heck of a road trip! Let's meet up in French Lick and talk about meeting again in Michigan on your way back to GA.

Sorry you will miss this year, hope you will make a return next year ! ... If I get "crowded out" in front of the hotel for a parking spot I just may go lurking down in your area ;-) I will do my best to uphold British pride !

Yes, this is our most ambitious trip, but friends just raved about how much they loved the coast of MI, so we decided we're halfway there, lets go! The plan is to make it around to Manitowoc, WI and take the SS Badger (last operating steam ferry on the Lakes) back to Ludington, MI and then down 31 towards home, stopping at Ft. Campbell, KY to see our son before he deploys. Looks like West Bloomfield is over by Detroit and not near our route. But we can visit at FL for sure! See ya there!
Jack
