Snewpee!

Been following your story about that car over on the HAMB. Great car and a great story to boot.

Yeah, that looks like a nice ride. If I see I see you guys, I'll give you a wave. Ill be in the guards red 79 midget. Hope for sunny weather and no rain (especially on Friday).

I need some tech help. Yesterday I test ran the 79 1500 midget without the hood on and ran out of fuel. Before I could get towed a half mile home,a downpour started. So I fueled it up and it idled fine. Today I went to drive it and it is intermittently backfiring and sputtering under heavy acceleration. It ran fine until it ran out of fuel and got wet. My dad says the old ignition systems(with points which this has) were known to start doing this when moisture made its way to the coil or distributor. He told me to wd40 the coil and distributor and see if it ran better. Anyone got any advice? I ran it without the hood cause I just pulled the motor and trans to check the pilot bushing in the crank(thought I forgot to put it in 10 years ago).

I think I would just try removing the distributor cap and drying it with paper towels first. I tried using WD40 to dry a soaked ignition system once and didn't have much luck.

Kurt.

Right. Paper towel and maybe hair dryer. No WD40.

The weather at St. Ignace was beautiful this past weekend.
It appears that Jim had a problem during Friday's parade and did not make the Car Show on Saturday. Enquiring minds want to know....
Jer's Snewpee is beautiful.
I spent Saturday parked next to the award-winning Jaguar XK-140 like the red-headed stepson.
But I was able to corral a few youngsters who showed some interest in the Spridget to sit in the car and get Mom or Dad to take a picture. Maybe some day they will remember the experience and develop an interest in LBCs.
Steve

Good for you Steve....we need to get the younger generation interested. [Selfish motif....our heirs will need a market!]

Kurt.

Little late on the report from 2015 parade. I entered the parade as a car with cooling problems thinking the parade pace would be faster- wrong basically my electric fuel pump overheated and quit working. After relocating the pump away from the engine compartment I haven't had a problem since. That engine compartment gets crazy hot on the 1500 midgets-had the fluid in the clutch boil in one parade(with a electric cooling fan).
