Well, folks, I think I have my initial short list of cars completed. This is my "I'd buy one if the right one comes along in my price range" list. Here's the list:
<ul type="square">[*]Bugeye Sprite
[*]Mark 1 and 2 Spitfire
[*]1965-67 MGB
[*]TR4/4A
[/list]
So, with this in mind, I've started to look more seriously at cars that enter into my price range. The first one I've run across is a Mark 1 Spitfire in Oregon, OH:
www.triumphspitfire.com
I've been in touch with the seller via email, and have some pictures that look pretty good. I've got a few further questions in to him right now, and am planning on getting in touch with him via phone in the next few days.
What I'm wondering is if there is anyone in that area (around Toledo according to Google maps) who would be willing to do an inspection for me, or if any of you have any contacts in that area who would be willing to help me out. I'm willing to cover expenses to make it reasonable for some one.
I'm resigned to having to buy a car long distance, since their aren't many LBCs for sale in Utah. Given that, I'd only really feel comfortable buying a car that had been looked over by someone I trust, with knowledge of these old cars and what to look for. I'm perfectly willing to pass on a car unless I really feel good about it.
Thanks in advance for any help possible. Y'all are a great resource, and I'm grateful to have found my way here.
