Sorting Her Out to Hit the Road

There have been an interesting set of post recently that have saved my bacon, thank you all, I'll re-list them here as they are simple mistakes and great corrections.

1. Front bearings-writing on bearings face inward toward each other. If you have a slight movement with new bearings this is the answer.

2. Put a little sealent on rear axel gaskets-that cleaned up a slight leakage.

3. Speed Bleeders-make getting the clutch line air free very easy.

And best of all I love my Facet electronic fuel pump $49.00 from NAPA-way to easy and inexpensive.

Thank you all for sharing.

Just curious, did you install an inertia switch in case the worst happens? Without it the pump can add "fuel to the fire" in the event of an accident.

Not so sure about the bearings. The factory IPB Page K7 shows the outer bearing with the race facing out and the inter bearing with the race faceing toward the engine. It says the side marked "thrust towards the distance peice.

Now that you have the Facet Fuel Pump from Napa, the next step is to get a HOLLEY fuel pressure regulator. That way, If and When the pump fails, you can use ANY pressure fuel pump that is available when you stop running. It may save your bacon.

Jack, I thought the thread the other day said to do as I did. First of all I got the bearings from VB and to look at them they do not seem to have any direction. So I put them in with the writting on the one side of each facing out. This left me with about 1/8" of movement when grabbing the wheel at 12 and 6. After reading the thread which Peter C replied to I thought the explanation was to have the writting face each other. There is absolutely no play in the wheel now. About the fuel pump, no I have not installed some type of kill switch. Always learning something.
