Rear Suspension Springs Removal/Replacement

As usual, my replace the rear brake job has morphed into wanting to refurbish the rear suspension. I have one shock off so far ( which will be on its way with its mate to Peter C. soon) along with the brake parts. How involved is removing the rear suspension spring? And are there any tips and/or disasters to watch out for?

Assuming it is the 1/2 eliptical - ie same as my '76 it is not hard at all - just put a jack under the differential and away you go

The shackles at the rear of the springs are pretty easy, but the front spring mounts can be a pain. Use a spray penetrating oil on the bolt threads before trying to unscrew the front mounts...they really get rusted in there.

This is a job where an impact gun is nice (but the bolts may break, leaving you to drill them out).

I would order a new rear flex line for the brakes if you decide to remove the rear from the car.
