Question about Moss Exhaust System [pics]

Dumb question but do I need to weld the pipes together or do I just attach them together with the clamps. The directions don't say what to do.

You are supposed to use the clamps.

Welding would make a better seal, though you want to be able to undo at least the rear sections if you ever need to drop the diff.

I found with my stainless steel pipes from Moss that only one connection was held together with a clamp, and the other was just held together by friction. After about a year, the friction connection came loose. So I added my own clamp and now it's fine. Lesson learned: use clamps for all the connections.

Also, much to my chagrin, I found that if something goes wrong with any component on the stainless steel pipes (I accidently dented the muffler), you cannot buy one component for replacement but have to buy the entire system. Solution: I turned the muffler over to hide the dent (from myself).

Yep my pipes are 1 3/4 inches wide and the smallest they make are 2 inches and I called them and they said that they wouldn't tighten that much.

I know. I was in a hurry. Emergency diff mount repair. Went on the recommendation of a friend didn't try to look around as I was exhausted from working under the car in the high heat and humidity.

Heat will kill the spunk out of ya in seconds.
Did you use the same for the front connection.
I guess this relevant if you have headers

I am still using the stock manifold. My exhaust system is the stainless steel Falcon sport so I only needed 6 clamps to make all of the connections. The band clamps do work better than the standard exhaust clamps available at any FLAPS. Since the applied force is equally distributed over the entire joint, the seal is better and the pipes do not distort. The last part is very important on a 6 since one may have to remove the exhaust to gain access to other items.
