Odd dash illumination problem

I had an odd problem with my dash + instrument panel illumination on my DHC. <span style="text-decoration: underline">I had right side marker lamps</span> but no dash or instrument illumination. The fuse for the Right marker lamps and dash illumination was good by ohm check and had +12 volts on both sides of the fuse.

I had 12 volts at the rheostat when the dash lamps were disconnected. I could also light the dash lamps if I powered the circuit from an outside power source.

Very odd. I replaced the fuse. All good now!!?? Put the old fuse back in and it was bad again. Must be a high resistance short in the fuse (ha ha ha) not allowing enough current flow to drive the dash lamps in addition to the marker lamps. Oh, this is a 1981 TR7 FI/non-AC wiring circuit, but that part of the diagram is the same for all versions.
