With only 8 miles on the new motor, We participated with our local TRIUMPH CLUB on the Polar Bear run. We left Brentwood for the start of the drive in Woodside at Buck's cafe. After meeting up with about 12 other members and their rides (we even had a porsche carrera in our group! From Woodside we followed route 35 up to Pacifica. The weather was beautiful, Bright and sunny! We headed down hwy 1 past devil's slide and thru Half Moon Bay. We stopped at a very nice spot to take some photos of the Tr's with the ocean in the back ground. From there we headed south to Davenport for lunch. Some of our group went up the mountian to a winery for some tasting. Glen and I headed south to Santa Cruz where we got quite a few thumbs up. Then back home to Brentwood. All total 260 miles on the odometer. The engine ran perfect. The hardest part of the drive was that I wanted to put my foot down to see how the 89m.m. pistons and the supercharger will do. Another 300 miles for breakin and then.......What a awesome day and what awesome people and very nice cars. The red Tr is Glen's very nice TR3( the one he let me drive up the delta a couple weeks ago)

I understand the object of your post being the fun of the trip, but just out of curiosity, what type and brand of oil are you using in your new engine during break in?

Sounds like a fun drive. Sounds like even more fun in a few hundred miles.

I am using castrol 20-50 plus a zzdp additive for the first 500 miles. Then amsoil 20-50.

I imagine that the Cstrol is a regular blend. Is the Amsoil regular or synthetic?

You might want to run the regular Castrol to about 3000 miles to properly seat the rings. Synthetic oil is great for keeping long term wear down, but it's so super slipperly,it might keep the rings from properly seating and lead to higher future oil consumption. Just my thought. Enjoy your car. Im sure others will chime in.
