Frame Straightening

Hello

Attached is a picture of the right hand suspension turret of my TR4. As you can see it is nicely powdercoated. Only problem is that when I got the fulcrum pins back it was obvious that the turret has been twisted. There is also some welding on the frame which points to some accident damage sometime in the past. I havs checked the bottom pins and they seem okay so it is just the top that needs to be twisted and pushed out slightly. Does anyone know the best way to do this repair? I have already called one frame shop and they said they couldn't work with a bare frame which surprised me...

Too bad you are so far away. A very good friend has a homemade frame setup that could do a very nice job for you.
Check with some of the local circle track car owners. I am sure they would know of a place.

I don't see proof in the photo of a bent tower. Can you insert the attachment bolts loosely so all 4 are in and then tighten? I remember having to do that with my rebuild and my car was in great condition. Maybe the new Fulcrum Pins are not exactly like the old ones. I did not compare them.

Compare it to the left to be sure its bent. Find access to the factory manual. The one I had for a TR3 had a detailed section on frame dimensions. Check with other shops. Some are geared only to high dollar insurance work. I once had my 3 down to the bare chassis and a good frame shop in the town I lived was going to straighten a small kink I had in a rear extension for minimal money.

You may want to look for a shop that does a lot of truck repair. There are still a lot of 'body on frame'trucks and they do get repaired.
