Went to a show yesterday. It is the second show that I have put the Bugeye in. The first one was a few weeks ago. Met a fellow BCFer in my class (AH Sprite). Thought that was pretty cool. I remembered his car from pics that have been posted.
But the story is about yesterday. I am posting this for all LBC owners to get a smile. Drove 3 hours north starting at 6:30. Fiance did not want to go because the drive began at 43 degrees. That's okay, took a buddy.
Ran the car both ways 50 - 58 mph all the way. Never getting above 5000 rpm. Really put this new build to the test. Car never skipped a beat!!
When we got there everyone was thrilled to see that a BE made the show. Everyone loved and I mean LOVED the car. As many of us have said in the past, I only go to shows to meet others, enjoy the events, and support clubs that promote the hobby. The awards are ONLY and I mean ONLY an added thrill if the Healey gods permit that day. Guess which class they stuck me in??
Austin Healey...
Okay, now I am up against Big Healeys. Not a problem. Still at the show for the above reasons. There were only 4 Big Healeys at the show. I was the only sprite, let alone Bugeye. I know 3 of the owners of the other cars and they are GREAT guys. They live near me and we have shared many stories and kicked tires quite a bit.
We went through the day watching all of visitors walking past the cars and taking pictures.........
I decided to leave the bonnet down for the spectators. I showed off the engine to a few fellows and of course the judges, but I figure a BE would be a BE if it weren't for its face. Good thing I did!! Most women and kids don't care about the engine. But, they sure do love that smile!!
Awards were being handed out and I ended up winning best in class. Imagine my surprise when I found out that I beat the "B" Healeys!! Chalk one up for LBC owners.
Tooo long of a post to continue the story, but enjoy the pics.
