Brakes done, nothing new there. Have a rocker ?

Okay the brakes are done on the back. Pretty straightforward and noticed posts on here about it already so didn't bother duplicating.

Now I have a lot of noise, valve train type noise. My thought is that the rocker shaft needs to be replaced with the rockers.

Any advice on how to do this? I searched but didn't really find what I was looking for. I have the 948 motor, maybe I need to search an ealier model forum because of that?

Rach.

Rachel, have you properly adjusted the valves?
If you have and it's still noisy, the rocker assembly is an easy job to replace. We can talk you through it if need be.

30 min job if you have the new bits.

Check the valve adjustment first.

Ok, would love for it to be a simple valve readjustment, I will do a search and see what I can find and then post back.

Thanks again for the responses, it makes owning this car enjoyable.

""""""". I have the 948 motor, maybe I need to search an ealier model forum because of that? """"""

as far as the shafts and rocker assys there pretty much the same in methodology.

When you are adjusting the valves you might check each rocker for abnormal wear in the rocker arm bore or a worn shaft. Back each adjuster way out so there is no load on the rocker......try to twist the rocker and see if there is a lot of movement betwen the rocker and the shaft.....how much movement is subjective.......but there shud b just a little......usually the shafts wear on the bottom side.

of course a complete disasembly cleaning and inspection of the shaft assy might be in order.....photos and drawings as you disassemble will really help get the pedastals and pieces back together the right way.
