I was thinking of adding an oil cooler to my 3000 Because until the car gets quite hot my oil pressure is fine. Has anyone added one and has it made a difference. It worked for one of the Sprite guy. Seems like it should help

Hi Walt, What is your oil pressure when the engine "gets quite hot " , what is that running temperature and what viscosity oil are you running---Keoke

I put an oil cooler on my Healey in 1985. I recently machined my own adapter and replaced the oil cooler and hoses due to age cracking of the rubber.

The gray car in the signature pic came with an oil cooler from the factory. I retrofitted the same OEM parts to the black car and saw a 20 degree drop in oil temperature compared with before. Warm up is still quick, as the newer (2001-2002) BMW oil filter housing has a thermostat built in.

- Oil 20-50
- oil pressure about 10 at idle, 40 something cruising
- 65lb at start up

Randy - looks very nice but I'm not seeing an oil filter.

Well with those numbers it seems you may have a bit of wear in the engine someplace. I would have a look at the rocker shaft first and then the By pass valve next for easy starters. Adding an oil cooler is going to include some additional pressure drop in the system----Keoke-?
