Has anyone fitted the AH Supplies Alternator kit COM180?
I've finished the mechanical part but am confused with the electrical connection instructions. For a start they refer to two small NY (brown/Yellow)leads at the control box, there is only one small one and a large one. Also if the instructions are followed you end up with the small NG (brown/Green)wire on the large contact on the alternator and the large NY on the small contact on the alternator which makes no sense to me. I've called them, they don't know never having fitted a kit. I've wired it as their instructions and the ignition light is now on when the key is off, and goes off when the ignition is turned on. I haven't yet started the car for fear of doing some harm.
Any help or points in the right direction appreciated.

I hope you document it once you figure it out as I have that kit too but have not gotten to the installation yet.
Sure wish AH Spares had instruction for their stuff. I'm going to document their front disk brake conversion kit so it's here!

Thanks for the advice Bill but I've sorted it today. I'm about to let AH spares know where the errors in their istructions are are and I'll post them here so that people like Rich can install his kit. Hopefully they'll update their instructions. It does work well once installed and the problem for me buying out of the US is freight if there's any weight involded, same for you guys I suppose if you buy from the UK. I found where the errors were partly from reading the Hendrix site and partly from just looking at the BJ8 wiring diagram.
All's well that ends well.

The errors are as follows.

Mechanically, the supplied fan belt won't fit, it's too short by about 4cm. I decided so as not to have to find a non standard belt, to mill out the groove in the adjusting strap to be about 3/4 inch longer.

Electricaly it's all wrong for a BJ8 with RB340 control box. The instructions a thru c are fine. d should read

d) On voltage control box wiring connect (NY) small wire from warning lamp to (NG) wire. (it would be helpful if the kit contained a double male 6.5 mm spade connector to achieve this but it doesn't). Then connect large (NY) to the four (N) wires. (again the kit needs a triple 9.5mm male spade connector to achieve this, not supplied).

e) Connect the large (NY) wire previously connected to the dynamo to the + contact (large spade) on the alternator. Connect the small (NG) wire previously connected to the dynamo to the Ind contact (small spade) on the alternator.

f) re connect the battery remembering the battery is now connected negative earth.



The instructions above means that unless you wish to do so it is not necessary to use the alternator socket supplied with the kit and of course refers to a BJ8 with the RB340 control box as shown in your instructions.

I had already cut off the old spades before I realised it didn't seem right. It now works ok, control cut in on alternator is perfect at 14.2 volts.
